The Miami Dolphins entered the offseason with some major questions in their specialist room, but after agreeing to terms with kicker Zane Gonzalez during the legal-tampering window, they made another move at the position on Thursday.
Miami announced Thursday morning that they’ve re-signed kicker Riley Patterson for the 2026 season.
Patterson, 33, signed with the Dolphins last August after stints with the Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, Washington Commanders, New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons in his first five years in the NFL.
The former Memphis kicker replaced Jason Sanders last year, who landed on injured reserve before the season started. Patterson went on to make 93.1% (27-of-29) of his field goals and 97.1% (34-of-35) of his extra points.
Once Gonzalez’ deal is officially signed, he and Patterson seem set to compete this offseason for the job.
