Dolphins draft picks 2026 live updates, picks so far, grades on Day 2

The 2026 NFL draft rolls on tonight with the Miami Dolphins expected to be just as busy as they were in Round 1. General manager Jon-Eric Sullivan made two trades on the draft’s first day, moving down to take Alabama tackle Kadyn Proctor, then moving up to grab San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson.

The new GM’s moves also netted the Dolphins two extra picks, giving them a total of 13 heading into Round 2 today. And Miami could use every one of those to rebuild around incoming quarterback Malik Willis and star running back De’Von Achane. They used their second-round pick on All-America linebacker David Rodriguez, and are expected to add more help in the secondary, as well as at guard and defensive end. And of course they need to restock their wide receivers after trading Jaylen Waddle and releasing Tyreek Hill.

Dolphins draft Caleb Douglas

With the No. 75 pick, Miami used the first of their three third-round picks on Texas Tech wide receiver Caleb Douglas. He’s the second Red Raider to join the Dolphins after linebacker Jacob Rodriguez in Round 2. Douglas transferred to Texas Tech in 2024 after spending two seasons at Florida. He had 54 catches for 846 yards and seven touchdowns last season.

“Douglas adds size to a Dolphins wide receiver room that needs it. Douglas has also run a 4.39 second 40-yard dash. He could be a deep-ball weapon for strong-armed Malik Willis. … It is interesting the Dolphins GM Jon-Eric Sullivan, son of former Dolphins wide receivers coach Jerry Sullivan, chose Douglas over some players projected to be drafted higher. The Giants taking Malachi Fields of Notre Dame one spot ahead of Douglas could have affected the Dolphins. It’s hard to know for sure.” – Joe Schad, Palm Beach Post

Dolphins draft Jacob Rodriguez

With the No. 43 pick, Miami took Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez, an All-American who won the Nagurski and Bednarik awards as college football’s best defensive player. He led the nation with seven forced fumbles last season as the leader of the ferocious Red Raiders defense, leading them to the Big 12 championship and the College Football Playoff. Rodriguez had 128 total tackles (11 for loss) with a sack, four interceptions and two fumble recoveries. His wife, Emma Rodriguez, is a Black Hawk helicopter pilot for the Army and is expected to be deployed soon.

“Rodriguez is a very active player who forces turnovers. He began his career at Texas Tech as a quarterback. Rodriguez is not Zach Thomas, but he plays with his hair on fire, just like the Dolphins legend from Texas Tech.” – Joe Schad, Palm Beach Post

“Turnover machine who won the Butkus Award as the nation’s best linebacker in 2025. Instinctual run defender with good diagnosing abilities. Forced 13 fumbles in his career. Lacks length that NFL teams want to see at the position. Average speed may limit him in coverage.” – Ayrton Ostly, USA TODAY

When do Dolphins pick next?

Miami has four picks today, one in the second round and three in the third. Teams have 7 minutes to make their picks in Round 2 and 5 minutes in Round 3. After taking linebacker Jacob Rodriguez at No. 43, the Dolphins aren’t scheduled to pick again until the 11th pick of the third round. That pick likely will come about 9:30 p.m. ET.

Will Dolphins draft a wide receiver?

With Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle out of the picture, new quarterback Malik Willis needs some new weapons at wide receiver. Washington’s Denzel Boston was a popular choice for Miami at No. 43, but the Browns snatched him with the 39th pick. Here are some of the top wideouts still available:

Miami traded down from No. 11 to No. 12 with Dallas, taking Alabama tackle Kadyn Proctor and picking up two fifth-round picks in the deal. The Cowboys selected Ohio State safety Caleb Downs with their pick. The Dolphins then traded up with the 49ers from No. 30 to No. 27 to take San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson. San Francisco traded the first-round pick they received to the Jets, who grabbed Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. Miami also dealt a third-round pick to San Francisco in exchange for a fourth-rounder.

Who is Dolphins guest announcer tonight at NFL draft?

The Dolphins’ guest pick announcer is Dwight Stephenson, a five-time All-Pro center in the 1980s who was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1998.

What time does the NFL draft start today?

Dolphins draft reaction

There wasn’t a lot of excitement in the immediate reaction to the Dolphins’ two first-round picks, though they did address major areas of concern on the offensive line and at cornerback. Pre-draft comments about Kadyn Proctor from Nick Saban, who recruited and briefly coached him at Alabama, played into that notion. GM Jon-Eric Sullivan challenged the criticism, telling those questioning Proctor’s ability to watch his tape. “There wasn’t another one in the draft like him,” Sullivan said. “Period.”

Kadyn Proctor introduction

Kadyn Proctor, the Dolphins’ first pick in the 2026 NFL draft, made his debut in South Florida on Friday afternoon. He talked about how his size and power will help him translate his potential shown at Alabama into being an NFL starter. The Iowa native also showed off his knuckle tattoo that reads “1972,” which honors his stepfather and also should play well with the Miami fanbase seeking a return to glory.
