Gov. Ron DeSantis has appointed Kevin Mason and reappointed Paul Bailey to the University of West Florida Board of Trustees.Mason is the chief executive officer and cofounder of Acentria Insurance located in Destin. He previously served as the producer and managing partner of North Florida Operations for the Insurance Office of America.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from UWF.
Bailey, who was appointed to the board on Jan. 6, 2025, and is an attorney for Welton Law Firm. He also serves as a registered instructor with the National Rifle Association and an adjunct professor at Pensacola Christian College.
Bailey’s initial term ended on Jan. 6.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in pre-law from Pensacola Christian College and his juris doctor from Regent University.
“We’re grateful to Gov. DeSantis for appointing UWF alumni Kevin Mason and reappointing Paul Bailey to the university’s Board of Trustees. Their leadership and commitment to Northwest Florida will be important as we keep building momentum for our students, campus and region,” said Manny Diaz Jr., UWF president-elect in a statement.The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate and will join other UWF board members Trista Bennett, Ed Fleming, Janice Gilley, Adam Kissell, Rebecca Matthews, Rachel Moya, Kishane Patel, Heather Riddell, Ashley Ross, Zach Smith and Chris Young.
