The Jacksonville Jaguars have made it official, announcing that they’ve signed tight end Brenton Strange to a contract extension. Following that news, both Liam Coen and James Gladstone weighed in on the roster move.
“As our offense continues to evolve, Brenton’s role will evolve with it. He sets the tone as a run blocker and plays a huge role in the pass game as well,” said Coen, via Jaguars.com. “His work ethic and dedication define our core values and culture and we’re excited to keep developing this offense with him as a main focal point.”
Strange’s presence unlocks so much for the Jacksonville offense under Coen. Not only is he a reliable presence in the passing game, but his versatility and blocking ability allow Stange to wear a variety of hats, which opens up the playbook for Coen and adds a level of unpredictability to this unit.
When Strange played last season, the Jaguars were 11-1 on the year.
“Over the course of last season, it was clear that Brenton was an important part of what we’re building here,” said Gladstone. “He will continue to grow within the confines of the offense and be a weapon in both the pass and run game.”
According to Tom Pelissero, the Jaguars and tight end Brenton Strange have agreed to a three-year contract extension, worth up to $48 million with incentives. This includes $25 million guaranteed.
