A new subdivision with more than 60 apartments and commercial space is headed for Coralville, with construction set to start soon and finish in a few years.
The Coralville City Council unanimously passed the first reading of a rezoning request and site plan on Tuesday, June 23, for five buildings on a seven-acre lot on the northeast corner of the Oakdale Boulevard and Jones Boulevard intersection.
Grand Rail Development has proposed a 63-unit apartment complex and four multi-tenant commercial buildings, a subdivision they are calling Overdale Overlook.
What will Oakdale Overlook entail?
The roughly 25,600-square-foot apartment building will include 34 one-bedroom and 29 two-bedroom apartments in a three-story design. The four commercial buildings will average roughly 7,000 square feet and will sit opposite the apartment buildings. An adjacent subdivision parking lot between the new buildings will accommodate more than 200 cars.
The project will extend Jones Boulevard to the north.
Construction is expected to finish in 2028.
