The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death Thursday morning after a body was discovered behind the Walmart loading docks off Pensacola Boulevard.
The ECSO told the News Journal that deputies responded behind the Pensacola Boulevard Walmart where a body was discovered in “heavy shrubbery.”
Investigators could not immediately discern a possible cause of death due to the body being in “a heavy stage of decomposition” due to the recent heat, the ECSO told the News Journal.
The District 1 Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy and determine cause and manner of death, at which point investigators will be able to determine if they will open a criminal investigation.
