The Miami Dolphins have been very this offseason, making changes to their front office and coaching staff after a mediocre 2025 season that led to a massive overhaul of the roster over the last few months.
During that time, new Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and new head coach Jeff Hafley, who have a previous relationship from their time together with the Green Bay Packers, have identified a few players that they want to build around going forward.
While they’ve already signed running back De’Von Achane and offensive lineman Aaron Brewer to extensions this offseason, they last building block left entering the final year of their contract is linebacker Jordyn Brooks. Luckily, ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques believes the two sides will come to an agreement soon.
“Brooks has expressed multiple times his interest in remaining with the Dolphins long term, and Miami isn’t exactly flush with extension-eligible players,” Louis-Jacques wrote. “Despite the massive roster churn over the past several months and the fact that the team drafted a pair of off-ball linebackers, it’s likely Miami reaches an agreement with the NFL’s leading tackler from last season.”
The 28-year-old has been productive in South Florida thus far, recording 326 tackles (24 for a loss), 10 quarterback hits, nine passes defensed, 6.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries and one forced fumble in 34 games.
While Jacob Rodriguez and Kyle Louis could be great players in the NFL someday, having Brooks alongside them to bring the duo along could be very helpful for their development.
