A month after a wrong-way collision on Butler Boulevard killed a Ponte Vedra man and woman, another happened on Interstate 295 early Saturday in Jacksonville.
A 31-year-old Jacksonville man died in the June 27 head-on crash after driving the wrong direction on I-295 near Baymeadows Road at about 3:30 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The two men in the other car — 22- and 26-year-olds from Jacksonville — survived their injuries. They were wearing seatbelts; the 31-year-old — the lone occupant in his car — was not, according to the FHP crash report.
The crash remains under investigation, and no names were released.
In the May 28 double fatality, the 21-year-old wrong-way driver in a pickup truck survived, but an elderly man and woman were killed in the 9 p.m. collision on Butler Boulevard near Marsh Landing Parkway, the Highway Patrol previously reported.
