Amazon will be laying off almost 500 Florida workers, starting in September.
The layoffs are on top of more than 600 announced earlier this year at another facility.
The company’s latest Worker Adjustment and Rehabilitation Notice, filed July 16, affects employees at its Port St. Lucie facility.
Amazon said it will be shutting down its operations at both its Homestead and Port St. Lucie facilities as it launches renovation plans expected to take two years.

Amazon’s WARN notice filed with the state and Port St. Lucie said it would be “shutting down operations” at its fulfillment center at 7600 Parkway.
Employee layoffs will begin Sept. 17.
How many workers will be laid off at Port St. Lucie Amazon fulfillment center?
Amazon said the layoffs would affect 494 employees at the fulfillment center.
Layoffs would be between Sept. 17 and Dec. 17, 2026.
Employees were notified of the coming layoffs in June.
More than 600 Amazon employees laid off at Homestead, Florida, facility
Earlier this year, Amazon said it would be laying off 616 employees at its fulfillment center on Southwest 132nd Avenue in Homestead.
Layoffs began July 2 and will continue until Sept. 30.
Amazon Port St. Lucie, Homestead facilities closing for renovations
Amazon is closing both the Port St. Lucie and Homestead facilities as it launches two-year renovation plans.
The 1-million-square-foot Amazon warehouse in Port St. Lucie will close for a renovation and expansion project expected to take two years, company spokesperson Amber Plunkett said.

It’s expected to reopen in full 2028.
When it reopens, it should employ between 850 to 1,000 workers, in additional to seasonal increases.
The company said the purpose of the Homestead closure is to renovate the facility into a different type of distribution center, a process that will take two years.

“When this facility reopens in mid-to-late 2028, it will continue to employ approximately 1,000 people, and employees will have the option to return at that time,” the company said.
Amazon gets OK to build distribution center in Fort Pierce
A $240 million, 1.1 million-square-foot Amazon distribution center could be coming to Fort Pierce, located north of Port St. Lucie.
