A teen or child on a mini-motorbike was injured Wednesday evening after being struck in a hit-and-run collision in southeast Tallahassee.
While few specific details were available, a Tallahassee Police Department watch commander told the Tallahassee Democrat that the incident occurred at about 9:48 p.m. The “juvenile” was struck by a vehicle while on the bike, and the vehicle did not stop, according to the watch commander.
Traffic was diverted as police investigated.
The circumstances of the wreck or the level of injuries were not clear. Police did not immediately release a description of the vehicle, and the investigation remains open.
News of the incident spread online with one person saying a 14-year-old boy was the victim and had sustained critical injuries.
“Who in the world could ever HIT A CHILD and then just leave them there lying in the street!!!????” she wrote. “If anyone has any info please call the tip line.”

There have been more than 2,550 crashes in Leon County with more than 1,600 injuries and at least eight deaths on area roadways so far in 2026, according to the state’s Crash Dashboard online. Pedestrians have been struck by vehicles 127 times, and four of those were fatal, including one from a hit-and-run. There have been a total of 878 hit-and-runs, 145 of them with injuries.
