Here’s a look back at some of the restaurants that opened in and around Gainesville in 2025.
Another Broken Egg Cafe

Another Broken Egg opened in January and offers Southern-inspired breakfast and lunch cuisine in the in the University Town Center. Brunch classics include Chicken & Waffles, Shrimp ‘N Grits and Classic French Toast.
Bagels & Co.

Pennsylvania-based Bagels & Co. opened in December on the ground floor of the Hub On Campus Gainesville. It offers a large variety of Brooklyn-style bagels and hot and cold drinks made with Costa Rican coffee.
Bowie Pizza

Bowie Pizza opened in May and serves up authentic Italian-style, Neapolitan pizza using 48-hour fermented dough and fresh ingredients.
Burrito Factory & Cantina

Burrito Factory specializes in customizable burritos, tacos and bowls made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Menu items include classic carne asada, chimichangas, and plant-based options.
Chick-fil-A

The Alachua location opened in November as the first Chick-fil-A in Alachua County outside of Gainesville The Atlanta-based fast-food chain is known for its chicken sandwiches, waffle fries and shakes.
Da Vinci

Head to Da Vinci in the University Towne Center for Neapolitan-style pizza cooked in a 900-degree oven imported from Italy, and homemade pastas such as Fettuccine Bolognese, Spaghetti & Meatballs, Shrimp Linguine and more.
El Indio

Gainesville favorite El Indio — a local staple since 1992 — opened its third location in November. The restaurant serves up classic Mexican fare such as tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, burritos and nachos.
First Watch

This is the second First Watch location to open in Gainesville. It features a variety of classic breakfast brunch options such as bacon and eggs, omelets, waffles and French toast.
Jalisco Town

Opened in May, Lake Mary-based Jalisco Town Modern Mexican Grill’s featured items include the Molcajete and the Money Bag Chimichangas. It’s “top secret” birria recipe is another big hit.
Kyuramen

Opened in October, Kyuramen specializes in a variety of ramen dishes and appetizers like freshly fried spring rolls and pan-fried vegetable dumplings. It also offers a selection of Tbaar drinks.
La Diperie

La Diperie is a dessert shop specializing in customizable soft serve and hard ice cream. Other sweet treats include donuts, cookies, popcorn, cakes and milkshakes. Vegan treats also are available.
Manzil Fine Indian Dining

Manzil offers an all-you-can-eat buffet and serves up a variety of authentic Indian dishes made with traditional spices, from creamy butter chicken to Manzil Ghotala and fragrant biryanis.
Mi Apa Latin Cafe

Mi Apa Latin Cafe in the city of Alachua moved to a bigger building across U.S. 441 in July. It serves Cuban favorites such as Arroz con Pollo, Ropa Vieja, empanadas and croquettes.
Parlor Doughnuts

Parlor Doughnuts, a new craft doughnut and coffee shop, opened in October in the Midpoint Park and Eatery. Choose from more than 12 layered doughnut varieties such as French Toast, Maple Bacon, Campfire and more.
Pepper’s Mexican Grill and Cantina

This small Florida chain opened its second Gainesville location in October. The menu at Pepper’s features an array of popular Mexican dishes, including tacos, fajitas, quesadillas, chimichangas, burritos, enchiladas and more.
Pleasant Street Pizza Pub

Pleasant Street Pizza Pub in the historic Fifth Avenue/Pleasant Street neighborhood specializes in beer dough pizza, wings and craft beer. It also sells salads, subs and fries.
Serendipity Soda & Sweets

A sweet escape to simpler times, Serendipity opened in October to much fanfare in a restored 1895 apothecary in the heart of downtown High Springs. Indulge on old-fashioned sodas, ice cream and hand-made sweets.
Volcanic Sushi + Sake

Volcanic Sushi opened its third area location this year in the Tioga Town Center. It offers classic Asian cuisine like udon noodles, wok fried rice, wonton soups and, of course, plenty of sushi rolls.
West End Tavern

The West End Tavern took over the former World of Beer in the Tioga Town Center in August. The menu includes a selection of burgers, wings, bowls, flatbreads, soups, salads and other pub favorites.
ZEN Pho & Noodles

Zen Pho & Noodles opened over the summer in the Publix at Steeplechase shopping center. It features a blend of signature dishes like the Red Curry Rice Platter, Spicy Seafood Ramen, pho (Vietnamese soup) and pad Thai.
