Hollywood lost a legend.
Director Rob Reiner died on Sunday, Dec. 14, alongside his wife, Michele Singer, USA TODAY reported.
The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating their deaths as apparent homicides.
Reiner was a celebrated actor, director and producer whose work shaped American television and cinema for decades.
Actors, such as Jamie Lee Curtis and “The Princess Bride” star Cary Elwes, expressed their grief and love for Reiner following his death. Political figures, including former president Barack Obama, also paid tribute to Reiner.
“The characters, dialogue, and visuals he brought to life in film and television are woven throughout our culture,” former vice president Kamala Harris wrote on social media.

Reiner became famous for his portrayal of Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the groundbreaking sitcom “All in the Family,” winning two Emmy Awards as Archie Bunker’s son-in-law.

Reiner has 90 acting credits, according to IMDb, including for “Sleepless in Seattle” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.” He recently acted in a handful of episodes in “The Bear.” Many “New Girl” fans will remember his role as Bob Day, the father of Jess Day (Zooey Deschanel). He also had brief appearances on Disney shows, including “Wizards of Waverly Place” and “Hannah Montana.”

Reiner was 78 years old when he died. He was born on March 6, 1947, in the Bronx, New York, to comedy legend Carl Reiner and Estelle Reiner, who was an actress.

In 1989, Reiner married Michele Singer, a photographer. Reiner often credited Michele with inspiring the happy ending of “When Harry Met Sally …,” which he was filming when they met. Singer was 68 when she died.
Rob Reiner’s children
Reiner has four children. He adopted Tracy Reiner, the biological daughter of his former wife, Penny Marshall. He then shared three children with Singer: Jake Reiner, Nick Reiner and Romy Reiner.
