Woman accused of kidnapping, vehicular assault in Victorville

An Apple Valley woman is accused of kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon after authorities say she forced another woman into her car, then intentionally struck the victim with the vehicle after she escaped in Victorville on Thursday.

The incident unfolded just after 2:40 p.m. May 14 in a residential neighborhood in the 14300 block of Squirrel Lane, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department records show.

Deputies responded to a report of a person falling from a moving vehicle, department spokeswoman Jenny Smith said.

They learned the victim, a 27-year-old woman, had been involved in a fight with the 29-year-old suspect, identified as Leeshanay Helena Easter, at a nearby home, she said. The women were described as friends.

“Detectives determined Easter allegedly forced the victim into a vehicle,” according to Smith. “While the vehicle was in motion, the victim attempted to escape by jumping from the vehicle. Easter then drove back toward the victim and struck her with the vehicle.”

The victim was hospitalized in unknown condition.

Investigators found and arrested Easter a little over an hour later in the 14200 block of Amargosa Road in Victorville, county jail records show.

She was booked on suspicion of kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $80,000 pending an initial court appearance.
