Kobie Turner wasted no time becoming a leader for the Los Angeles Rams. It’s easy to see why he’s so beloved and respected in the locker room, too.
On the field, he’s a dominant defensive tackle. Off it, he’s well-spoken and has a brilliant way of bringing players together.
His character and eloquence made him a perfect choice to give the commencement speech at his alma mater, the University of Richmond. Unsurprisingly, he delivered with a perfectly inspiring message, telling graduates to always remember that they are enough.
“There’s only one you in this world, and the world needs you as you already are,” Turner said. “Your occupation does not define you. You are so much more than that. When you enter the workforce, stay rooted in the fact that you are more than what your title says. When you stay true to who you are, opportunities arise that you never saw possible.”
Turner’s entire speech is one worth watching for anyone who’s looking for a little inspiration and motivation. And as a star in the NFL who’s a family man and talented musician away from the gridiron, Turner’s words carry weight.
The Rams voted Turner a captain entering his second season in 2024, and again last season. He’ll almost certainly be a captain for the third straight year in 2026, a well-earned honor for the former third-round pick.
On such a young defense, he brings an exceptional level of maturity and leadership to the group.
