Palm Springs restaurant fails inspection over dead rodent, roaches

A number of Coachella Valley restaurants failed their Riverside County health inspections this week, according to reports.

McDonald’s inside the Walmart in Palm Springs was temporarily shut down due to a sewage backup on May 11. However, hours later, inspectors returned to see the issue had been resolved, and the facility was approved to reopen.

Tony’s Burgers in Cathedral City (later scored an “A” on its reinspection), Porta Via in Palm Desert, Korakia Pensione and Rick’s Desert Grill in Palm Springs and Norma’s Italian Kitchen in Rancho Mirage all received “B” grades on their inspections due to a number of violations, including improper hot and cold food holding temperatures, vermin (Rick’s Desert Grill) and possible contamination of food. The sites will be revisited by inspectors, when they will have a chance to raise their scores and earn “A” cards.
