One person, possibly a child, was shot and wounded when gunfire erupted during a fight among teens at a Victorville shopping mall on Sunday evening, officials said.
Authorities received multiple reports of gunfire just after 6:30 p.m. Dec. 21 near the Cinemark Victorville 16 movie theater, located in the Mall of Victor Valley at Bear Valley Road and the 15 Freeway.
“Deputies responded to the mall for multiple juveniles fighting,” San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Gloria Orejel said. “The fight escalated and shots were fired. One person possibly a juvenile, was struck and transported to the hospital.”
Deputies evacuated the mall as the investigation continued Sunday night.
The scene remained “very active,” Orejel said.
No further detailed were available regarding the circumstances of the shooting, which was being investigated as an attempted murder.
Images from the scene depicted what appeared to be a bullet hole through the front glass door of the theater.
Numerous yellow evidence marker cards could be seen scattered on the sidewalk and street in front of the theater.
