On Monday, the 2026 college baseball season came to an end. Oklahoma dominated North Carolina 13-2 in the decisive final game of the College World Series to win the national championship.
On Tuesday, Baseball America released its final top 25 of the season. USC, who narrowly missed making it to Omaha after falling in the super regionals, came in at No. 11 in the rankings.
This marks the Trojans’ highest finish in the final top 25 in over two decades. USC had a remarkable season, making it to a super regional for the first time since 2005, and was two outs away from the College World Series before suffering a heartbreaking defeat.
Notably, the Trojans were ranked three spots ahead of crosstown rival UCLA, who finished at No. 14. The Bruins were the significantly better team during the regular season, but choked in epic fashion in the NCAA Tournament, failing to even make their regional final as the No. 1 overall seed.
The rankings will likely draw a strong reaction from Westwood, given that UCLA went 4-0 against USC this season. Ultimately, however, the Bruins have no one to blame but themselves. Had they not lost twice to No. 4 seed Saint Mary’s, this would not be an issue.
