‘These don’t come often’: Antelope Valley local recognized for 40 years with U.S. Air Force

Antelope Valley local Pam Jeglum has received special recognition for 40 years of service with the U.S. Air Force.

Forty years isn’t enough for Jeglum, however, and she pledges at least three more years during her award ceremony at the 412th Test Wing Headquarters at Edwards Air Force Base.

The award “doesn’t come often” for Air Force employees, says Dan Osburn, the 412th Test Wing senior technical director who presented Jeglum with the 40-year Air Force Civilian Service pin and certificate of service.

Jeglum is a part of the 412th Test Wing Plans and Programs. She started working at Edwards Air Force Base as a summer hire right out of high school.

“I came out from Missouri to visit my brother for the summer, who worked in Security Forces, and he suggested I apply for a job,” Jeglum said at the award event. “Back then, you were in a typing pool and went wherever needed. I started at the Test Pilot School, worked in supply, and ended up at the hospital, where I was asked to apply for a permanent position.”

After working several hospital positions as a clerk, Jeglum moved to the 716th Logistics Test Squadron to support B-2 Spirit tests and later transitioned to the 419th Flight Test Squadron and Bomber Combined Task Force.

She then moved to the Air Force Flight Test Center, followed by the 412th Logistics Readiness Squadron before her current position as a senior management analyst.

“Ms. Jeglum has an incredible work ethic, and her devotion and service to our country over the course of four decades embody the very best of what a public civil servant is and should be,” said Laura Shattuck, Chief of Mission Assurance at the 412th Test Wing.

Jeglum’s “call sign” in the office is “Hammer” because of her ability to get the job done, Shattuck said. “What sets Ms. Jeglum apart is the way she lifts others along the way.”

Jeglum wears many hats in her office. She leads by example and mentors her co-workers, helping shape careers and a lasting legacy. Shattuck is “proud to serve with Ms. Jeglum. Her dedication is truly inspiring.”
