Local families are invited to a special event at the Visalia Fox Theatre on Sunday, April 26. Nature lovers and eager explorers will enjoy a sneak peak of Jim Henson’s new PBS KIDS series “Wowsabout!”and experience a variety of hands-on, nature themed activities.
“Wowsabout!”premieres nationwide on May 1. This is the first Jim Henson Company series to join PBS since “Sesame Street.”
“We’re excited to welcome families to the Visalia Fox Theatre this Sunday for the free ‘Wowsabout!’ premiere event with Valley PBS,” Visalia Fox Executive Director Wilhelmina Santana said. “It’s a great opportunity for children and parents to come together, enjoy a new PBS KIDS program, and experience the magic of the theatre in a fun and welcoming setting.”
What makes this show extra special for Central Valley kids is not only the fact that they get to see the first episode before the rest of the nation; the characters visit Sequoia National Park in the first episode.
“Events like this help make arts and educational programming accessible to our entire community,” Santana said.
What can the audience expect?
Big city piggy, Ronald, is on his first nature adventure and he is ready to explore the giant trees, waterfalls and rocks. Roxy, a country girl hedgehog, enjoys everything about nature and wants to meet a friend while she enjoys all the beauty the world around her has to offer.
The two team up to explore the wonders of national parks, meet real park rangers and experience the beauty of nature.
Roxy and Ronald will be at the Visalia Fox on Sunday to meet guests, as well as a park ranger from Sequoia National Park.
Families will have the opportunity to participate in nature themed crafts, a sing-a-long, and a variety of interactive learning stations.
