The Stockton Record is tracking each homicide reported within Stockton city limits in 2026. The report will provide readers information about victims, the court or investigative status of each case, and updates as they become available.
Each month, the tracker will be updated with information verified by the Stockton Police Department, San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office and the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner as it becomes available.

Died: April 7, 2026 from a shooting.

Suspect arrest: N/A
Damon Richard James Owens, 42
Died: April 7, 2026 from a shooting.
Residence: Stockton
Location: 7600 block of Pacific Avenue
Suspect arrest: Trung Nguyen was arrested on April 8, 2026.
Status of case: Nguyen’s case is in the further arraignment stage.
Derrick Lee Walthall, 43
Died: March 31, 2026 from a shooting.
Residence: North Highlands
Location: South Commerce and West Main streets
Suspect arrest: Henry Heath, Brian Hansen and Amanda Chappel were arrested on April 3, 2026.
Status of case: Heath and Hansen’s cases are in the further arraignment stage. Chappel did not appear in the county court system as of April 8, 2026.
Jack Wesby Jr., 69
Died: March 22, 2026 from a shooting.
Residence: Stockton
Location: South El Dorado Street and East Hazelton Avenue
Suspect arrest: N/A
Sue Johnson, 80
Died: March 13, 2026
Residence: Stockton
Location: 1400 block of Woodland Drive
Suspect arrest: Trina Johnson, daughter of Sue Johnson arrested on March 13, 2026.
Status of case: Trina Johnson’s case is in the further arraignment stage.
Jaden Rashawn Phillip Bailey, 21
Died: Feb. 21, 2026 from a shooting.
Residence: Riverbank
Location: 9500 block of Bancroft Way
Suspect arrest: N/A
Debra Ann Maldonado, 70
Died: Feb. 16, 2026 from a stabbing.
Residence: Stockton
Location: 2500 block of East Anita Street
Suspect arrest: Christopher Maldonado, grandson of Debra Maldonado was arrested on Feb. 16, 2026.
Status of case: Christopher Maldonado’s case is in the further arraignment stage.
Andre Bragg, 33
Died: Jan. 27, 2026 from a shooting.
Residence: Stockton
Location: 300 block of South San Joaquin Street
Suspect arrest: N/A
