A wildfire that broke out in Mead Valley, a community north of Perris and near March Air Reserve Base, quickly burned 115 acres Tuesday, July 21.
The Rider Fire was reported around 1:30 p.m. near Rider Street and Seaton Avenue. Cal Fire did not report any injuries as of 3:15 p.m.
A Cal Fire spokesperson said a battalion chief requested additional engines to respond to the fire due to the wind. An aircraft was also responding to the blaze.
Cal Fire reported that 180 personnel were assigned, including a helicopter, 23 engines, three dozers and two water tenders.
Rider Fire evacuations
The areas of Patterson, Placentia and Orange avenues were being evacuated as of 2:35 p.m., according to the app Watch Duty, which monitors wildfires. Cal Fire did not immediately confirm the information.
City News Service reported that, although the flames were not immediately threatening properties, officials at the scene declared evacuation orders for scattered homes and businesses in the area of Placentia Avenue and Tobacco Road and Orange and Harvill avenues. Warnings were in effect for nearby locations.

For public safety, Riverside County sheriff’s deputies shut down westbound Rider Street from Harvill Avenue, along with westbound Orange Avenue from Harvill Avenue, City News Service reported.
