A Powerball ticket sold at an Orange County 7-Eleven store hit the jackpot in Saturday’s drawing, earning $526.5 million for the lucky player, according to lottery officials.
Where was the winning Powerball ticket sold?
The ticket was sold at the convenience store at 763 N. Euclid St. in Anaheim, the California Lottery announced. The jackpot value was updated from a prior estimate of $515 million.
It matched all winning numbers, which were 21, 7, 11, 61, and 53, and Powerball 2, the agency said in a written statement.
It’s not just the ticket holder who has reason to celebrate.
As a result of selling the jackpot-winning ticket, the store will be awarded the California Lottery’s maximum retailer bonus of $1 million.
The winner has one year to come forward and claim the prize, which can be paid out in full over 30 years, or as a lump sum payment of $243.8 million.
California Lottery Powerball raised $38 million for education
The Powerball alone has raised more than $38 million to fund public education in California over the past two months, since the last jackpot hit in January, lottery officials said.
The figure was reached after tallying totals from the last 30 drawings since the last Powerball jackpot was won by an Oregon man in January.
“That’s $38 million from just one game in just two months” lottery representative said via social media. “Wins all the way around.”
Approximately 80 cents from each $2 Powerball ticket is used to fund public education, officials added.
The jackpot for Monday’s drawing will be reset to $20 million.
