Light rain fell on the Victor Valley Monday after weather officials issued an extreme heat watch from Tuesday through Thursday in San Bernardino County.
The traditional summer roller coaster ride of thunderstorms, showers and heat arrived this week in the High Desert, the Inland Empire and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Temperatures are expected to be above average, with major “Heat Risk” across Southern California during the multi-day heat wave that will scorch parts of Southern California.
Places like San Bernardino, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga and Riverside are expected to range from 100 to 107 degrees. Portions of the High Desert will range from 100 to 105, with Adelanto and Victorville on the upper end of the scale. Barstow is expected to remain in the 100s through Saturday.

In the mountains, Big Bear and Wrightwood are expected to see high temperatures in the 80s and 90s.
During the second half of July, monsoonal moisture from the south may move north into the southwest states.
Heat wave safety tips
To reduce health risks during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments.
