Hit-making country music star Jake Owen will play the Ventura County Fair on Aug. 1.
Fairgrounds officials announced the act on May 19 as part of a daily release of grandstand performances for the 12-day fair that runs July 29 to Aug. 9 in Ventura.
Owen joins a concert lineup that includes Iration on July 31 and Ashanti with Bow Wow on Aug. 3.
The singer, a Florida native who once pursued a career in golf, has blasted out a stream of chart-topping country hits. He’s credited for being an architect of a genre called bro-country that focused on beaches, parties and tailgating. His hits include “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” “Alone With You,” “The One that Got Away” and the “Best Thing Since Backroads.”
Grandstand shows begin at 7:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5 p.m. for a pre-party. The concerts are free with admission to the fair. People can also purchase VIP tickets that will bring seats closer to the stage and other amenities. VIP tickets start at $39 and go on sale online on May 27.
Pre-sale tickets for the fair are priced through May 25 at $13 for adults, $8 for seniors 65 and older and $8 for children 6 to 12. Kids 5 and younger are free. For more information on the fair, go to https://venturacountyfair.org/.
