This week, we learned that four-star edge rusher Mekai Brown would announce his commitment on Friday. USC was a solid favorite to land Brown, with the Trojans going up against Ohio State, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss.
On Friday morning, Brown revealed his school choice. Sure enough, he went with USC, as the Trojans added another commit to their 2027 recruiting class that is quickly growing.

Brown is a product of Greenwich, Connecticut. 247Sports Composite currently ranks him as the No. 54 overall player and the No. 6 edge rusher in the class of 2027.
“For the next three to four years, I’ll be committing to . . .” Brown said, before revealing a black USC shirt. “The culture, the people, the development—I just loved everything about the program.
“There was no where else I could see myself at,” he added, via 247Sports. “We went out there about two months ago, and I just had a really special time there. After every visit, I just kept coming back to the experience I had there. I just knew it was home for me.”
After signing the No. 1 recruiting class in the country in 2026, the Trojans currently hold the No. 3 class in the country for the 2027 cycle, per 247Sports’s rankings. Could consecutive top classes be in store for USC? Given the program’s current recruiting trajectory, it would not be surprising to see such.
