The California Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash east of Redding that killed a Shingletown man over the weekend.
The collision happened around 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, on Highway 44 west of Inwood Road.
Investigators said a 2018 Honda Accord was traveling east when it veered across the solid double yellow line into the westbound lane. As the driver was steering the sedan back toward the eastbound lane of the highway, the vehicle collided with the front of a 2006 Toyota Tacoma pickup.
The 63-year-old Shingletown man driving the Honda died at the scene, the CHP said. His identity is pending identification of next of kin.
The four women inside the Toyota truck suffered minor to moderate injuries, the CHP said.
The man driving the Honda and the four women were wearing seatbelts, investigators said.
Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the collision, the CHP said.
Anyone with information about the crash are asked to call the CHP at 530-225-0500.
