Florida baseball is set to face Troy in the Gainesville Regional final.
The matchup will be a winner-take-all game on Monday, June 1, with the winner advancing to the Super Regionals and hosting Little Rock.
Florida (41-20) defeated Rider and Miami to reach the regional final, but the Trojans hit five home runs to defeat the Gators 16-11 in the nightcap on Sunday. UF will play in a NCAA Regional Game 7 for the fourth time in the last five seasons.
After falling to Miami in the regional opener, the Trojans (35-30) have won three straight games, including a doubleheader yesterday in which Troy beat Miami and UF.
Should Florida win, it would mark the 11th time the Gators have reached a Super Regional under head coach Kevin O’Sullivan, while for Troy, it would be the first time ever.
“You win, you move on,” O’Sullivan said. “You lose, the season is over. We played a tough schedule. We have been through ups and downs. I definitely think they will be ready to play. What else do they have to lose? The alternative is that the season is over. So they have to go out there and give their best effort and have as much energy as they possibly can.”
