Investigators about 9:05 p.m. went to the address following a domestic-related disturbance and fire in the home.

Police accused Picard of setting fire to the bedroom door of a 62-year-old woman while she was inside.

The 62-year-old woman smelled smoke and saw smoke from under her bedroom door.

“When she opened the door, she observed Picard standing near the door and flames at the base of the door,” police stated.

The 62-year-old woman tried to get a fire extinguisher to put out the flames but Picard reportedly “attacked her and attempted to prevent her from extinguishing the fire,” police stated.

Picard reportedly threatened the 62-year-old woman and tried to push her in the direction of the flames.

The 62-year-old woman ultimately went to a bathroom, locked the door and called 911.

Police took Picard into custody, though during the process she is accused of injuring an officer’s leg.

The 62-year-old woman and Picard were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

In addition to attempted murder and arson, Picard was arrested on a resisting arrest without violence charge, police stated.

Police reported the case is “an isolated domestic-related incident.”

No other information was immediately available.
