A security guard at Twin Lakes Academy Middle School has been jailed on charges involving lewd conduct with a student, Duval County school officials said June 1.
Jon Kee, 27, was arrested May 29 and is being held on $500,000 bond, jail records show.
No detail has been released about what Kee was accused of doing to be charged with soliciting or engaging in lewd conduct with a student as an authority figure, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
He was at least the second school district employee arrested in May on charges involving improper action as an authority figure.
Baldwin Middle-Senior High teacher James Mulvey, 47, was accused May 22 of pursuing a “romantic, although not physical” relationship with a student.
In a June 1 message, Twin Lakes Academy Middle Principal Aurelia Williams told parents: “I understand how upsetting and alarming this news may be, and as both a principal and someone who cares deeply about our students and families, I share in your concern.”
A school district spokesperson said the district opened a professional standards review of Kee. Like Mulvey, he wouldn’t be allowed to have contact with students while that review was happening, although Kee’s incarceration makes that moot.
Kee has worked for the school district since February 2022, the agency reported. Hired first as an office assistant, he had worked as a security guard since July 2024.
