Authorities are investigating a body found in the Santa Clara River in the unincorporated community of Saticoy April 6.
Deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office responded around 7 p.m. to a report of a body floating in water near the bridge near Nardo Street and Los Angeles Avenue, also known as Highway 118, said Capt. Mike McConville.
He said the caller reported seeing the body face down near the recycling plant. As of around 8:15 p.m., the body had yet to be recovered from the water, McConville said.
“We’re still on scene,” he said.
The deceased person was an adult man, and the circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear, said sheriff’s Capt. Jason Karol on April 7.
The discovery of the body in Saticoy came four days after another body was found upriver in Fillmore. Sheriff’s deputies were called to the A Street bridge on a report of a body seen submerged and caught in foliage mid-river.
Sheriff’s officials said the death of Eduardo Castro, 43, described as homeless, in Fillmore was determined to be a homicide.
