A Barstow security guard was arrested on suspicion of video recording a female employee while she was inside the restroom stall at a local business.
The Barstow Police Department reported that around 11 a.m. on July 14, officers responded to the 2700 block of Tanger Way regarding a report of an invasion-of-privacy incident involving coworkers.
During an investigation, officers discovered that a female employee was using an employee restroom designated for women only when a coworker allegedly entered the adjacent stall.
While inside the stall, the woman observed a cellular phone being extended beneath the stall partition and suspected that someone was recording her.
The woman confronted the individual, who was later identified as Barstow resident, Omar Quezada, 29, a security guard for the business.
Quezada allegedly admitted to officers that he entered the women’s restroom and recorded the woman while she was inside the restroom stall, Barstow Police said.
Officers arrested and booked Quezada on suspicion of invasion of privacy. They also served a search warrant, seizing Quezada’s cell phone and his computer from his residence.
The police department did not reveal if the suspect was jailed. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department shows no information on his arrest or booking.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Officer Anthony Miranda at 760-255-5111 or at amiranda@barstowca.gov. Those wishing to remain anonymous may also provide information regarding his case by calling the WE-TIP hotline at 800-78-CRIME (27469).
