Carrillo was reported missing to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and was known to frequent the Santa Paula area, according to a Santa Paula Police Department news release.

Carrillo’s sister reported him missing on April 8, according to a sheriff’s office news release. He was released from a local jail the morning of March 9 and had not contacted his family, sheriff’s officials said.

The sheriff’s office was not immediately available to provide details on the investigation.

His body was found in “advanced stages of decomposition” around 11:30 a.m. on July 11 near the 600 block of Cornell Drive, Santa Paula police said.

A person called in finding a body near the river bottom, police previously said.

The police department is investigating Carrillo’s death and have requested that anyone with information call Detective Mario Escalante at 805-826-2930.
