Authorities identified the man who died after crashing into a parked semitrailer near the Conejo Scales in Newbury Park on June 27.
Nicholas Kaneko, 22, was from Oxnard, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. He died of blunt force head trauma and his death was ruled an accident.
Kaneko was driving near the scales, also known as the Conejo Grade, when he drove along the shoulder and collided with the parked truck, California Highway Patrol officials previously said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was not yet known whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the second crash, CHP officials said.
