Columbus police homicide detectives are investigating the death of a Southwest Side man who died at a local hospital less than 12 hours after he was found with multiple gunshot wounds.
Police responded at around 11:45 p.m. on July 5 to the 100 block of Haldy Avenue on the city’s West Side on a report of a shooting. On arrival, they found 23-year-old Demiceo Thompson lying in a front yard with multiple gunshot wounds, police said in a media release.
Thompson was transported in critical condition to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, Downtown, where he died from his wounds at around 9:23 a.m. July 6, police said.
A suspect has been identified as 18-year-old Mytwan Goins, and a warrant had been issued for his arrest, according to Franklin County Municipal Court records. As of mid-afternoon July 7, it was unclear if he was in custody.
