A man has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for his involvement with a 2022 Stockton robbery and murder.
Draygo Peraza’s sentencing was announced this week by San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas.
Remo Serbo, 42, was killed on Jan. 16, 2022 in the area of Funston Avenue and Bradford Street.
Prosecutors said Peraza and Rosantito Castaneda broke into a home on Funston Avenue on Jan. 15, 2022. The men assaulted two people and robbed the home, while searching for Serbo, prosecutors said.
The following day, on Jan. 16, 2022, Peraza and Castaneda returned to the home to wait for Serbo.
However, when Serbo attempted to drive away to safety, Castaneda and Peraza opened fire. The bullet struck Serbo in the head and killed him, prosecutors said.
“This was a calculated act of violence that tragically claimed a life and shattered the peace of a local neighborhood,” Freitas said in a statement.
He added, “Our hearts go out to the Serbo family and the other victims involved. While we cannot undo this tragedy, we can ensure that those who bring this level of violence into our community are removed from our streets for a very long time.”
On April 17, Castaneda was found guilty of second-degree murder, residential robbery, residential burglary and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Castaneda has not been sentenced.
