Annual Catfish Derby returns Saturday to Oak Grove Regional Park

The Catfish Derby will return to Shumway Oak Grove Regional Park this weekend.

The annual event will begin bright and early at 6:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, at 4520 W. Eight Mile Road in Stockton. The event is presented by San Joaquin County Parks and the Delta Fly Fishers. There will be competitions for all ages.

“Come fish 2,000 lbs. of Catfish for prizes during our annual Catfish Derby,” the San Joaquin County Parks website states.

Gates will open at 6:15 a.m. with the last weigh-in at 12:30 p.m., the county’s parks website states. There will be a five-fish limit.

There will be a $5 cash fishing fee for anglers ages 16 years old and over. A valid California fishing license is required to participate. Children can fish for free. There will be a $6 cash parking fee.
