According to a Bedrock Detroit Instagram post, the downtown Detroit Sweetgreen will be located at 1020 Woodward Ave. This downtown Detroit Sweetgreen is to open “soon,” according to Bedrock. The location is steps from Campus Martius and in a space that’s between the Detroit Water Ice Factory and Adelina Italian restaurant.

Sweetgreen is known for its plant-forward menu with fresh offerings and selections of bowl foods with or without a variety of proteins, various salads and sides.

There are also protein plates and create your bowl options with an array of base ingredients, toppings and premium add-on ingredients. Bases include arugula, kale, spinach, spring mix, herbed quinoa, white or wild rice. There are more than a dozen dressing options.

Among Sweetgreen’s warm bowl options is its Shroomami with roasted tofu, warm portobello mix, cucumbers, basil, shredded cabbage, roasted almonds, wild rice, shredded kale and miso sesame ginger dressing, according to its menu.

A featured bowl is the Elote Bowl with arugula, herbed quinoa, roasted corn and peppers, summer tomatoes, shredded cabbage, goat cheese, tortilla chips and a lime cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette.

Most bowls cost under $16. Sweetgreen salad prices range from $10.65 to $14.25. There also is a kids menu.

“We take pride in attracting local and nationally renowned brands like Sweetgreen to Detroit’s Central Business District. Sweetgreen is a welcome addition to our growing downtown portfolio, adding another healthy option — with its own distinct approach —for Detroiters to enjoy,” Naumann Idrees, Bedrock’s SVP of Leasing, said in the Instagram post.

In April, Cava, another nationwide chain, announced plans for a new location at 636 Woodward Ave., next to Shake Shack and steps from Campus Martius Park. A Cava location is expected to open later this year in the Detroit area, according to a spokesperson, though no specifics were confirmed.

The chain, now with more than 200 locations nationwide, has five Michigan locations. Its first Michigan location opened in downtown Birmingham in 2022. There are two locations in Ann Arbor and locations in Rochester Hills and Troy. A Shelby Township location on Hall Road is listed as coming soon on the Sweetgreen website.
