BigXthaPlug's Iowa State Fair show goes on despite arrest in Texas

BigXthaPlug’s Grandstand show at the Iowa State Fair went on despite his arrest and jailing in Texas.

The show wrapped up around 10 p.m. after the artist rushed to Iowa to keep his headlining concert date Saturday, Aug. 22, despite his arrest Friday in the Dallas suburb of Allen.

He was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and unlicensed possession of a firearm, according to Collin County, Texas jail records.

KXAS-TV, a Fort Worth, Texas, NBC affiliate, reported that BigXthaPlug, whose legal name is Xavier Landum, had previous similar arrests in Texas in 2025.

The fair previously had a cancellation by Aug. 14 Grandstand headliner Rod Stewart, who cited medical reasons. It provided refunds and arranged for John Waite to perform a free Grandstand show in Stewart’s place, which drew about 2,000 people.

Prior to Stewart’s cancellation, the fair had been on course to beat last year’s record number of Grandstand tickets sold. Despite falling short of that goal, the fair still beat the single show ticket record with Lainey Wilson’s sold-out show on Sunday, Aug. 16.

BigXthaPlug, of Dallas, is known for his mix of rap and country alongside big-name country artists like Luke Combs, Ella Langley, Bailey Zimmerman, Jelly Roll and Darius Rucker. His hits include “Texas” and “Mmhmm.”

“Hip-hop and country music both have the same base, which is storytelling,” he told The New York Times in an interview.
