The 2026 regular season kicked off Thursday, Aug. 20, with two games featuring Stark County teams.

2026 OHSAA football state championship games in Canton in December
Ohio high school football’s 10-game regular season leads up to the OHSAA state playoffs, which begin in October and culminate with all seven state championship games being played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. This year’s title games are Dec. 3-5 — the sixth straight year all of the title games are being played in Canton.
Who makes the OHSAA football playoffs?
The top 12 teams in each region in the final report will qualify for the OHSAA state playoffs in pursuit of a trip to the OHSAA state championship games. The top four teams in each region get a first-round bye before hosting a second-round game. Seeds 5-8 will host first-round playoff games against seeds 9-12.
