BigXthaPlug’s Grandstand show at the Iowa State Fair will go on, despite his arrest and jailing in Texas, the fair says.
Fair spokesperson Mindy Williamson said early Saturday, Aug. 22, that “we are in communication with his agent and at this time, we have been told he will still be performing.”
He is scheduled as the headliner at 7 p.m. Saturday with opener XOLEX.
The crossover rapper was arrested Friday in the Dallas suburb of Allen on charges of driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and unlicensed possession of a firearm, according to Collin County, Texas jail records.
The records showed he had not been released as of Saturday morning.
The fair previously had a cancellation by Aug. 14 Grandstand headliner Rod Stewart, who cited medical reasons. It provided electronic refunds through its ticket vendor, E-Tix, and in-person refunds for fairgoers who purchased tickets with cash at the State Fair box office.
John Waite performed a free Grandstand show in Stewart’s place.
KXAS-TV, a Fort Worth, Texas, NBC affiliate, reported that the artist, whose legal name is Xavier Landum, had previous similar arrests in Texas in 2025.
BigXthaPlug, of Dallas, is known for his mix of rap and country alongside big-name country artists like Luke Combs, Ella Langley, Bailey Zimmerman, Jelly Roll and Darius Rucker. His hits include “Texas” and “Mmhmm.”
“Hip-hop and country music both have the same base, which is storytelling,” he told The New York Times.
