The Little League World Series game featuring Davenport Northwest (Iowa) vs. Bayonne (New Jersey) was delayed Sunday due to lightning in the area.
Lightning was spotted within 10 miles of Lamade Stadium in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, which results in an automatic delay.
Midwest and Metro players were removed from the field immediately as a safety precaution, and grounds-crew workers prepared to put the tarp on the field.
Iowa led 2-0 in the top of the third inning when the game was paused around 12:55 p.m. CT.
Workers began removing the tarp around 1:25 p.m. CT., signaling an end to the weather delay.
Anthony Johnson Jr.’s RBI single gave Iowa a 3-0 lead when the game resumed.
