A 30-year-old man arrested June 24 faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, accused of stabbing two people with a knife in Port St. Lucie.
Police officers first arrived at a group home in the city, where care is provided for its residents who can’t live independently, at 10:32 p.m. June 23, responding to a report of a stabbing, according to the arrest affidavit. The address was redacted from the report.
Upon arrival, a witness and resident of the home told police he saw a man, later identified as Anthony Dellabella, having a fight with two other residents, the affidavit stated.
A second resident and witness told police he saw Dellabella attacking a resident before they started fighting, and both were bleeding.
The resident involved in the fight told police he was on the couch with another resident vaping when Dellabella walked out of his room and said something that provoked him. Dellabella punched the man in the face after he confronted him about the comment, the affidavit stated.
Dellabella is accused of causing the man’s tooth to fall out and slicing his hand with a knife, which was stitched at a local hospital, the report stated.
The man told police Dellabella fled with the knife.
When Dellabella and the first individual were struggling over the knife, according to the affidavit, a second person was stabbed in his left foot and right arm. The man told officials he couldn’t determine who stabbed him.
As Dellabella arrived at Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital after the incident, he was arrested, according to Port St. Lucie Police officials.
Dellabella told police the first resident involved in the fight verbally attacked him as he walked out of his room. He said he “took flight to save his life” after the man he was fighting threatened to stab him in his sleep.
The lower abdomen and left side wounds sustained by Dellabella were treated before he was transported to St. Lucie County Jail.
Dellabella remained in jail on June 25 with a $20,000 bail, according to the jail’s website.
