East Peoria native and Kent State transfer Bri Despines just wrapped up her career at Louisville. The all-ACC first-team catcher batted .402 with 66 hits and 70 RBIs, while throwing out 12 runners stealing and earning National Fastpitch Coaches Association third-team all-American honors.

Louisville finished the 2026 campaign with a 44-14 overall record and an 18-6 mark in conference play. The Cardinals made the NCAA Regionals as an at-large team.

In the award’s 35-year history, Till is the Journal Star’s only three-time softball player of the year winner.
