Police identify pedestrian seriously injured in south Lubbock crash

Police have identified a 28-year-old pedestrian who was seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle Wednesday night on a south Lubbock roadway.

Lubbock police were initially called to 79th and Indiana Avenue at 9:25 p.m. June 17 for a report of a collision with injuries involving a pedestrian, according to police.

Upon arrival, officers located 28-year-old Juan Gomez-Hernandez.

He was taken via ambulance to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

Through the initial course of the investigation, it appears Hernandez was walking in the northbound lanes, when he was struck by a pick-up truck as it was traveling in the northbound lanes.

Other information about the circumstances of the crash was not immediately available as the investigation is ongoing.
