Outfielder Blake Brookins is the sixth Florida Gator to enter the transfer portal.
A junior out of Miami Palmetto High, Brookins was ranked the No. 38 outfielder and No. 210 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class by Perfect Game.
As a freshman, Brookins made seven pinch-hit appearances for the Gators, drawing one walk. In 2025, he played four games, including two starts at designated hitter, ending the season 3-for-10 with a .300/.364/.500 slash line. He doubled twice, scored twice and stole one base.
Brookins did not make an appearance in the 2026 season at Florida, allowing him to redshirt and leave Gainesville with two years of eligibility. His 6-foot-5-inch, 230-pound frame is built for power. As an upperclassman, Brookins is seeking more playing time, likely at the mid-major level.
Other Florida Gators in the transfer portal
Florida has already seen a quartet of arms depart for the transfer portal. McCall Biemiller, Matthew Jenkins and Cooper Moss announced on Monday, the first day the portal opened, and Christian Rodriguez followed on Thursday.
Infielder Kolt Myers was the first position player to leave the program.
Florida earned its first transfer commitment from former FGCU catcher Jon Embury, the 2026 ASUN Player of the Year, on Thursday.
