Le Point Pastry & Bakery brings new flavor to first Tallahassee shop

The locally owned family operation Le Point Pastry & Bakery is bready — pun intended — for people to see what they’ve been whipping up for the last few months: their first brick and mortar location.

“We love Tallahassee, it’s a beautiful community,” owner Carmen Gonzalez said in an interview with the Tallahassee Democrat. “We love bringing them good food. It is a gift for us.”

The family, whose goal to deliver something “different” through Venezuelan pastry traditions influenced by European baking techniques is hosting its grand opening event at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at 414 All Saints St.

The bakery, known for its handcrafted pastries, fresh baked artisan breads and focaccia sandwiches sits in the shuttered wing and pizza spot Luther’s 78 which closed in December 2025. Before that, it was home to milkshake parlor Sugar Rush Bar for seven years.

During a visit with the Tallahassee Democrat, the family walked through every way that they’ve been able to make the space their own, from ripping up the floors with the help of friends from Tally Floors, to expanding the kitchen and making a virtual vision they had truly come to life.

The bright, shiny bakery is sleek with few designs. Thankfully so, they wouldn’t hold a candle to the decadent pastries and handcrafted desserts owner Nelson Omana creates daily, but the family portrait and food truck pics framed in golden arches by the front door add a sweet, nostalgic touch.

When guests walk in they’ll be greeted by rows of their signatures creations filling up the squeaky clean display cases. Golden accents, the black wooden wall and hints of greenery add a modern feel to the space.

The shop is a dream come true for owners and couple Omana and Gonzalez. The two established themselves in the capital city starting at farmers markets, catering at local events and serving as a vendor for local businesses including garden center Tallahassee Nurseries for over a year.

“We’ve had nothing but positive feedback from customers,” Tallahassee nurseries administrative assistant Mya Friess told the Democrat. “People will plan their whole day around coming out here for lunch to walk around and just eat the delicious foods that they make.”

Friess also mentioned that you’ll typically find a line outside of their truck as people wait to get their hands on signature sandwiches and specials like the Dubai chocolate cinnamon roll, a fan favorite.

“I have heard from a few customers they’re excited about their brick and mortar location,” she said.

Adoring customers is how the family was actually able to find the space, and you can tell from the way they show it off they are thrilled to be there.

Omana, a pastry chef with over 25 years of experience under his belt, moves around the kitchen with ease. He says he loves what he does, and it shows as he describes a number of baked treats he’s been crafting in the giant kitchen filled with what he calls his “prized possessions” like the conveyer dough sheeter and the gigantic cooler he uses to ferment his bread. Game changers for his production which he primarily did in their warehouse and food truck.

With those tools he says, “that’s where the magic happens.”

Highlights of the Le Point Pastry & Bakery menu

On the menu you’ll find their focaccia sandwiches including the “Fabulous” made with roast beef, sharp cheddar, mushrooms and spinach ($14.90) or the “Powerful” made with salami, pepperoni, burrata, tomato and balsamic ($14.90). They also make monthly sandwich creations.

To pair, the bakery offers a full coffee lineup — from espresso and cortados to lattes and Americanos.

Now for the sweet treats, your eyes will be the decision makers for you. The display cases are filled with croissant variations including Nutella‑filled, strawberry cream and other custard‑filled options. We promise you can’t go wrong with whatever you decide.

Pavlovas, a meringue-based dessert, tarts, mousse pastries and more are available as well.

Their favorite part is seeing people’s reactions when they see the different goods or watching them taste and finding their way back for more.
