A major $22 million addition to the LP Building Solutions facility in Bath is expected to begin this spring, creating a handful of new jobs in Steuben County.
Breeanna Beckham Straessle, LP’s senior director of corporate communications, said the existing 90,000-square-foot plant at 6946 County Route 113 in Bath will be expanded by an additional 46,000 square feet to increase indoor storage for the products manufactured by LP.
“We are also modifying one of the site’s two manufacturing lines, adding 20,000 square feet of additional production capacity,” Straessle said. “As a result, the facility’s annual production will increase.”
The Bath facility handles LP SmartSide ExpertFinish Trim & Siding, LP’s premier line of prefinished siding.
The siding is manufactured at one of LP’s mills and shipped to Bath primed and ready for finishing, Straessle said. There, the team applies one of 22 prefinished paint colors, making the product ready to install on homes with no painting required after installation.
“To meet growing demand for ExpertFinish products, LP has been investing in additional capacity, including this expansion,” Straessle said. “The facility currently employs 70 team members, with plans to add five additional positions following completion of the project.”
The new positions will have an annual average salary of nearly $59,000 including benefits. The new construction is expected to start in April and conclude in a year.
Straessle said Bath team members operate manufacturing equipment, monitor quality, and manage logistics to keep production moving efficiently. Each step helps ensure the product meets LP’s standards before it ships.
Jamie Johnson, executive director of the Steuben County Industrial Development Agency, called the project “a major expansion” for the company, which has beat its initial employment commitment of 61 jobs in Bath.
LP Building Solutions opened its brand new, 90,000-square-foot facility on a formerly vacant 75-acre plot off state Route 54 in October 2023, boosting the Bath area and greater Steuben County.
The Bath facility is among more than 20 LP manufacturing plants across North and South America. Headquartered in Nashville, LP manufactures engineered wood products, like siding and OSB sheathing, for builders, remodelers and homeowners worldwide.
The company capitalized on its new facility in the Finger Lakes by making a foray into motorsports sponsorship at nearby Watkins Glen International last summer.
The LP Building Solutions 120 at The Glen, part of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, streamed live on Peacock, YouTube and IMSA TV in June.
