Emmanuel Richelieu, 37, of Farmington’s death was officially ruled a homicide following an autopsy by the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office. He died of ““multiple sharp force injuries,” deputies said Tuesday afternoon.

Missing man found dead

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office received a missing person report around 11 p.m. on Friday, April 17 after Richelieu’s brother said he had not been in contact with Richelieu for two days.

The brother tracked Richelieu’s phone to the America’s Best Value Inn at 473 Route 5&20 in Geneva. Deputies located the phone on the property early Saturday morning. A search of the property followed. An Ontario County Sheriff’s Office bloodhound alerted deputies at the door of Room 118 at the motel. Deputies entered the room found Richelieu deceased and alone inside the room, said Ontario County Sheriff David Cirencione.

Charged with murder

Julius Ware IV, 29, of Geneva, was charged Sunday with second-degree murder, a felony, and is accused of intentionally Richelieu’s death, Cirencione said.

Ware was arraigned in Ontario County CAP Court Monday and was remanded to the Ontario County Jail without bail. Additional charges are pending.

That motel room where Richelieu’s body was found was registered to Ware, who was not inside the room when deputies arrived, Cirencione said.
