Playing without three of their top hitters isn’t a good recipe when facing the Detroit Tigers’ pitching staff.
But that’s what the Milwaukee Brewers continue to face with injuries to Jackson Chourio, Andrew Vaughn and most-recently Christian Yelich.
Not only will they face two-time reigning Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal to end the series, but they’ll also face a pitcher this week who was top-10 in wins last season in Casey Mize, who’s off to another strong start in 2026, on Wednesday, April 22.
And the starter on Tuesday, April 21 in the series opener, 25-year-old Keider Montero (1-1, 3.31 ERA with a 15:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio) will also be a test for the Brewers.
The Tigers (12-11) have been a streaky team to start 2026. They already have separate four-game and five-game losing streaks, plus a six-game winning streak.
The Brewers (12-9) are coming off a series win over the Miami Marlins, though they dropped the finale Sunday, April 19 after falling behind early with Jacob Misiorowski on the mound. After an 8-2 start to the season, the Brewers have lost seven of 11 games, a stretch that included a six-game losing streak.
