VOTE: Herald-Tribune Athlete of the Week sponsored by Central Florida Behavioral Network for March 24-29

Each week The Herald-Tribune staff will select nominees for the Herald-Tribune Athlete of the Week poll sponsored by Central Florida Behavioral Network, Inc. Nominees are derived from scores and stats emailed in by Sarasota and Manatee county coaches during the week to htincoming@gmail.com. Readers can then vote in the online poll to determine the Athlete of the Week.

The winner of the March 10-22 poll was Saint Stephen’s Episcopal softball player Alcie Despard with 39.72% of the vote. In two Falcon games, Despard combined to go 5-for-7 with four doubles, four runs scored, and four RBI.

A poll will be posted at heraldtribune.com each Monday, and voting will end at 10 a.m. Friday each week.

The nominees for the week of March 24-29 are:

Baseball

Tyler Cripe, Parrish Community: In three Bull games, Cripe combined to go 7-for-12 with a triple, two doubles, and two runs scored.

Patrick Drymon, Sarasota: In two Sailor games, Drymon combined to go 4-for-6 with three doubles, four runs scored, and an RBI.

Brady Zaun, Cardinal Mooney: In the Cougars’ 7-2 victory over Manatee, Zaun went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and an RBI.

Boys lacrosse

Henry Becker, Riverview: In the Rams’ 11-9 victory over Shipley (Ga.), Becker had three goals and two assists.

Girls lacrosse

Kayleigh Bergstrom, Cardinal Mooney: In the Cougars’ 21-8 victory over Venice, Bergstrom had five goals and an assist.

Caroline Steinwachs, Riverview: In two Ram matches, Steinwachs combined for five goals, an assist, 18 draw controls, four ground balls, and two caused turnovers.

Softball

Rozlynn Boggs, Saint Stephen’s: In four Falcon games, Boggs combined to go 10-for-15 with four doubles, two runs scored, and six RBI.

Allison Cole, Riverview: In two Ram games, Cole won twice, one a perfect game, allowing five hits in 14 innings, walking one while striking out 32.

Abbie Eanet, Saint Stephen’s: In four Falcon games, Eanet combined to go 8-for-12 with a triple, five runs scored, and five RBI.

Angie Gomez-Linares, Sarasota Christian: In the Blazers’ 19-7 victory over Family Christian Academy, Gomez-Linares went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored, and three RBI.

Carley Ramsden, Sarasota: In three Sailor games, Ramsden combined to go 4-for-9 with a home run, two doubles, two runs scored, and six RBI.

Sommer Speers, Sarasota: In three Sailor games, Speers combined to go 5-for-8 with a double, six runs scored, and four RBI.

Riley Sullivan, Venice: In five games for the green and white, Sullivan batted .529 with nine hits in 17 at-bats. She had a home run, two doubles, six runs scored, eight RBI, and two stolen bases.
